NOLI’ University organized the scientific symposium: “Natural Monuments of Albania and their Natural, Historical, Cultural, Spiritual, and Touristic Values.”Korc Alpin presented two papers at this symposium.Eriseld Kalemaj and Iljon Thanas presented the paper: “THE NATURAL, DIDACTIC, HISTORICAL, SPIRITUAL, AND TOURISTIC VALUES OF SOME NATURAL OBJECTS IN THE KORÇA REGION THAT DESERVE THE STATUS OF ‘NATURAL MONUMENT’.”Based on field visits, scientific and legal arguments, we proposed these natural objects to gain the status of ‘Natural Monument’:The Imsha Pine (Katund)The Oaks of St. Thanas (Ujebardhe)The Source of Devoll (Nikolice)The Canyon of Qyqes (Vithkuq)The Fossils of Morava (Mborje)The Bear Cave (Bishnice)The Spruce Canyon (Vithkuq)The Chestnut of Ziçisht (Ziçisht)The Great Wave Waterfall (Sinice)The Forest of St. Peter (Dardhe)The removal of the ‘Natural Monument’ status of the glacial lake of Gramozi is unacceptable and unreasonable!2. Sara Muska presented the paper: “ASSESSMENT OF THE GEOTOURISTIC POTENTIAL OF KARST CAVES IN THE SOUTHEASTERN REGION.” The caves are geomorphosites with paleontological, historical, cultural, religious, and biospeleological values. Besides witnessing the evolution of human society, they are habitats and ecosystems for many microorganisms.The goal is to explore, promote, conserve, manage, and incorporate these sites into geotouristic itineraries through guides to diversify the regional tourism package. In this exclusive report, we delve further into the significance of this event and its impact on the local community.
